Our casual shirts (of which this one is such) are indeed cut a little shorter in the body and this is intentional. We received a fair bit of feedback from customers that a 'casual' shirt should be suitable to wear casually - and this includes wearing it untucked. Reducing the length a little allows customers to wear the shirt untucked if they wish, but will also be long enough for most customers to also tuck it in if required. The Classic Fit will still come with the longer 'tail', so it may be that this fit would be better for your husband when it comes to casual shirts.
